I first became interested in medical writing when I worked as a medical malpractice claims investigator. During my seven years at Norcal Mutual Insurance Company, I interviewed more than 600 physicians and counseled hundreds more on medical risk management and the legal claims process. I reviewed thousands of medical files and prepared cases for physician and legal review.
At Norcal, I covered the entire range of medical specialties, from pediatrics to pathology, from anesthesia to oncology. And I earned a certificate in managed care administartion. After leaving Norcal, I continued working with attorneys, organizing and chronologizing medical records.
As a project manager at Healthcare Technology Systems, I worked closely with pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations, physician and scientific researchers, and IT staff. I wrote marketing proposals for big pharma and health care insurers to use our proprietary technology. The SBIR grant I edited brought in $250,000 in funding. At HTS I focused mostly on mental health disorders, including depression, OCD, social anxiety disorder and dementia.
I’ve written for a wide range of clients for the past 20 years, and invite you to see some samples and a partial client list.
My education:
University of Pennsylvania – BA in Communications
University of San Francisco – Certificate in Managed Care Administration
